About Mielita Sunrise

Hi, I’m Sammy — the artist behind Mielita Sunrise.

This little shop means a lot to me. It started with my dog, who gave me the push I needed to choose a life with more freedom, creativity, and heart. Being able to work for myself meant I could spend more time with him. Though he’s no longer here, he’s still with me in everything I do — and always will be. This shop is, in many ways, for him.

My partner and I create everything by hand. He builds each wooden piece and I paint them with unique, original designs. It’s more than a collaboration; it’s a connection to the way my abuelita and abuelito used to work together — he’d build, she’d decorate. This work feels like home. You’ll also see touches of my Costa Rican roots throughout my work — made with care, and pura vida.

The name Mielita Sunrise comes from my family — Mielita has been my nickname for as long as I can remember, and it carries a lot of love. These pieces are more than just home decor — they’re little expressions of warmth, intention, and story. Whether they hold your morning coffee or sit quietly on your shelf, they’re made to bring a bit of beauty and meaning into your everyday life.
